Celebrity Chef Paul Merrett returns to Six Senses From the 29th July to 4th August, Celebrity Chef Paul Merrett returns for three exclusive dinners at Six Senses…. Paul was born on the spice island Zanzibar, his cuisine is strongly influenced by his travelling to many different places such as the spices of Sri Lanka, Thailand, North Africa, the Middle East, Spain and Japan! The Chef’s career began with an appearance on UK’s Channel 4 Light Lunch, he then became involved with a ten-part BBC2 series called The Best, three series of Ever Wondered About Food on BBC1, Family Super cooks and most recently presenting Economy Gastronomy on prime time BBC2. His impressive background in the restaurant world has seen him working with some of London’s top chefs, including Peter Kromberg and Gary Rhodes.
International Surfing Day On the 21st June, Six Sense Laamu successfully celebrated the International Surfers Day for a celebration of surfing around the world…Ocean Dimensions hosted an “Introduction to Surfing” workshop at the water sports centre, giving the opportunity to the non- surfer guests to participate and learn the surfing basics. Both Six Senses Laamu and Ocean Dimensions have actively supported the community of the local island, Maamendhoo, and the island’s school. As part of the program, the pupils from the local school had been invited and the young members of its Surf Club, to be part of the day. Later in the day, the surfers paddled out towards Maamendhoo Island and held a small ceremony by forming a circle and keeping a moment of silence as a tribute to our oceans
DJ Bar’el back on the Decks of Chill Bar DJ Bar’el (aka DJ Mobius) is back on the decks of Chill Bar from the 2nd August to 28th October. His ultra-lounge sounds are inspired from the worlds most atmospheric and idyllic locations he has travelled to with his music…From Fijis’ Cloud 9 to Maldives Six Senses Laamu, from Sydney to Bangkok. Bar’el is a classically-trained Afro-Caribbean percussionist and DJ. As one of the founding members of Sydney-based band ‘Martini Club’ he has spent the last decade touring with this ground-breaking band, performing in not only in Sydney but worldwide. Since 2009 and for three years, he has been the Kempinski Hotel group’s Resident DJ, playing his signature ultra-lounge, and remixed – jazz, in locations across three continents.

Turtle hatching at Six Senses Laamu This year Six Senses are very happy to have six turtle next on the beach! They are expecting hatching to come between the end of June until mid August. ‘The Turtle Team’ is a joined activity for guests and hosts to sign up. As soon as the turtle eggs hatch everyone is called on the spot and make sure that the little turtles make it safely from the beach to the ocean, where they will one day return to have their own eggs
